
For a while, we had a ferret. He was very loving, cute as anything, and
great fun to play with. Alas, we moved to (the unenlightened state of)
California, so Damien had to go back to the person we'd gotten him from.
One of the reasons the Fish and Game people don't want to consider
ferrets as domesticated animals (only for the past 2000 years.. *sigh*)
is because they claim that escaped ferrets will kill native wild fowl.
I hate to say it, but your lovely fluffy kitten is more dangerous than a
ferret. Or the neighbor's dogs. Ferrets don't survive well in the wild.
The estimated lifespan of an escaped ferret is three days.
